As the Director of Web Development at SEO Locale, Tiela leads the development, technical execution, and ongoing maintenance of websites across a wide range of industries. With years of hands-on development experience, her work spans web development, technical SEO, user experience, analytics implementation, performance, security, and the infrastructure that keeps websites running behind the scenes.

Leading the department has never meant stepping away from the work itself. Tiela continues to build websites, write and troubleshoot code, manage complex launches and migrations, diagnose technical issues, and work directly inside client websites every day. She is just as comfortable leading a project as she is getting into the code to figure out why something is not working.

More Than Building Websites

Tiela oversees the web development department and the processes behind new website builds, redesigns, migrations, launches, technical improvements, ongoing maintenance, and client website requests. She works closely with SEO, content, and project management teams so the technical side of a website supports the larger strategy behind it.

Her experience spans WordPress, Shopify, Squarespace, Wix, Webflow, BigCommerce, and other platforms, along with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, DNS, hosting, redirects, staging environments, Google Tag Manager, GA4, schema, forms and integrations, website security, performance optimization, and technical troubleshooting.

That broad technical background allows Tiela to look at the entire website rather than one isolated piece of it. She understands how development decisions affect SEO, tracking, performance, mobile usability, conversions, security, and long-term site management, and she knows how to account for those pieces before they become problems.

Development Should Still Feel Human

Tiela believes good development requires more than choosing a template or asking AI to build something. AI can be a useful tool, but it does not replace the technical knowledge, creative thinking, problem-solving, and understanding of a business that go into building a strong website.

As AI-generated websites become easier to produce, Tiela is particularly conscious of the sameness that can come with relying on them too heavily. A website should not feel like the same layout, sections, and design decisions were recycled with a different logo and color palette. She prefers to start with what the business actually needs and build from there.

That means combining custom layouts, functionality, interactive elements, and thoughtful visual details with responsive design, usability, performance, SEO, accessibility, and maintainability. Sometimes the right answer is a custom solution. Other times it is making an existing platform work smarter. The technology is there to support the idea, not dictate it.

The Person You Call When Something Breaks

Problem-solving is one of the strongest parts of Tiela’s technical background. She has built a reputation for taking on complicated website issues, tracing them back to the actual cause, and finding a practical solution, including the problems that do not come with an obvious answer.

Her troubleshooting experience includes tracking and analytics issues, WordPress and plugin conflicts, custom code, malware and compromised websites, DNS and hosting problems, broken functionality, integrations, performance issues, redirects, migrations, and the occasional website problem that seems to defy all logic.

That same hands-on approach shapes the way she leads her team. Tiela believes a development leader should understand the work, be able to teach it, establish clear processes, and be willing to jump in when the team needs help. Her role is not simply to manage development. It is to know development well enough to lead it.

Life Outside of Development

Outside of work, Tiela loves working out, shopping, decorating and redecorating, and finding new ways to change up a space simply because leaving it the same for too long is apparently not an option. She is also a mom to two boys and has three dogs, so there is usually something going on.

Tiela is a massive sports fan, with football at the top of the list and the Philadelphia Eagles firmly in first place. Football season is serious business, but her Philadelphia loyalty also extends to the Phillies and Flyers. She loves watching her teams and getting the chance to see them play in person.

That mix of technical problem-solving, creativity, organization, and a refusal to leave something alone when she knows it can be better tends to follow Tiela everywhere, from the websites she builds to the spaces she redesigns and just about everything in between.
