Plumber SEO

SEO for plumbers.

A burst pipe at midnight and a bathroom remodel planned for spring are two different searches, and a plumbing company has to win both. We build the map pack position, the emergency pages and the reviews that bring the urgent call, and the service pages that bring the planned job.

The Short Version

What plumbing SEO actually covers.

Map pack for every town on the truck

A plumber ranks near the shop address by default and nowhere else. Service-area pages written for each town, a profile with the right categories and service areas, and citations that agree on the address push the listing into the map pack across the whole route, not just the home zip code.

Emergency pages built for a phone

The emergency plumber page loads in a second on a cellular connection, shows the phone number and the hours before anything else, and says what happens when someone calls at two in the morning. It is written for a person standing in an inch of water, not for a search engine.

Reviews that mention the job

A review that says "fixed our water heater in Doylestown the same day" does more than five stars alone. We set up the request so it goes out when the technician leaves, asks for the specifics, and gets answered by the owner within the day.

Local Services Ads beside the SEO

Plumbing is one of the categories Google puts the Google Guaranteed listings above everything for. We run the LSA account alongside the organic work, so the company holds the top of the page and the map pack on the same search and disputes the leads that were never a job.

Plumbing SEO that follows the service list

Plumbing SEO that follows the service list

A plumbing company sells thirty different jobs and most sites describe three of them. Drain cleaning, sewer line repair and replacement, water heater installation, tankless conversions, repiping, sump pumps, gas lines, backflow testing, water treatment and the emergency work each get their own page, written to the questions a homeowner asks before calling: what it costs, how long it takes, whether the yard gets dug up. Those pages rank for the planned jobs, and they are the pages the emergency caller reads while they wait for the truck.

Behind them sits the technical work: a site that loads fast on a phone, schema markup that tells Google the company is a plumber with these hours and this service area, and a structure that keeps the town pages and the service pages from competing with each other.

Why plumbers choose SEO Locale

Why plumbers choose SEO Locale

Because the people who write the pages, manage the profile, run the ads and report the rankings all sit in one office in Montgomeryville, and because the HVAC and plumbing work we have done since 2015 means the service list, the seasons and the price questions are already familiar. The owner gets one strategist, a login to SEOApp, the rank tracker we built, and a monthly report that shows calls and booked jobs from the company’s own analytics rather than a screenshot. Every agreement is month to month.

Why Plumbing Is Different

The emergency call goes to the first good listing. The remodel goes to the best page.

Half of plumbing searches are made with water on the floor, on a phone, by someone who will call the first company with an open sign and four and a half stars. The other half are planned: a water heater, a repipe, a bathroom. The first kind is won in the map pack; the second is won on the page that explains the job and the price range better than anyone else.

SEO Locale has been handling the marketing for our company, Sector Bay Laundry, for about 6 months. We moved on from another company, and the work ethic and responsiveness have been a night and day difference. I can't point out one specific person because the entire team as…

I had a really good impression of Nick and the team but unfortunately they significantly underdelivered on what was promised. With two days left after our first month all we had received was a list of keywords and a few articles that were almost certainly AI generated, about 20%…

FAQ

Questions from plumbing companies

What plumbing owners ask on the first call, answered the way we answer them there.

We rank in our own town but not the next one over. Why?

Because the map pack ranks a business near its address, and a plumber with one shop has one center. The fix is a page written for each town you serve, a profile whose service areas name them, reviews that mention them, and citations that agree. Without a second office you will not match a company based in that town, but you can sit in the map pack beside it, which is where the call comes from.

Should we run Local Services Ads too?

Yes, for a plumber almost always. The Google Guaranteed listings sit above the ads and the map pack for emergency searches, and the company pays per lead rather than per click. We manage the account beside the SEO and dispute the leads that were not a job. The two together cover the top of the page and the map pack on the same search.

How do we get reviews that actually help?

Ask at the right moment, which is when the technician is leaving and the problem is solved, and ask for specifics: the job, the town, the technician’s name. A text from the office software with a direct link gets more responses than a card. The owner answers every review within the day, including the bad ones, because the reply is read by the next customer.

What should the website have that ours does not?

A page for every service on the truck, a page for every town on the route, an emergency page with the phone number and the hours above everything else, photos of your vans and your people rather than stock, price ranges where you can give them, and a form short enough to fill in on a phone. Most plumbing sites have a home page, a services page and a contact page, and rank for nothing.

How soon do the calls start?

Profile and citation work moves the map pack within the first two to three months. Service pages for the planned jobs take four to eight months to rank, longer in a metro with established competitors. Local Services Ads bring calls as soon as the account is approved. The audit gives a timeline for your market rather than a generic one.

Is there a contract?

No. Every agreement is month to month. The plan is explained before you pay for it, and you can stop when the work stops being worth it.

Plumbing searches are two markets, and the site has to serve both

The first market is urgent. "Emergency plumber near me", "burst pipe", "no hot water", "sewer backup": these searches are made on a phone, often at night, and the searcher calls one of the first three listings in the map pack, chosen on stars, hours and distance. Winning them is Local SEO and Google Business Profile SEO work: the right primary and secondary categories, hours that say 24/7 if the company really answers, a service area that matches the trucks, photos of the vans and the crew, and a steady flow of reviews from the towns the company wants to rank in.

The planned job

The second market is patient. A homeowner replacing a water heater, converting to tankless, repiping a 1950s house or finishing a basement bathroom reads three or four sites before calling, compares price ranges and looks for a company that has done the job before. Those searches are won on the service pages, with the detail, the photos and the answers to the cost question that most plumbing sites avoid. A company with strong map pack rankings and thin service pages gets the emergencies and loses the remodels, which are the jobs with the margin.

What a plumbing company gets from the campaign

The free audit comes first, reviewed by a person: where the company sits in the map pack for each town on the route and each service on the truck, who sits above it, what their profiles and pages have that yours does not, and the technical problems on the site. From there the work runs in a known order. The profile and citations are fixed in the first month, because they move fastest. The emergency page and the top service pages are rewritten next. Town pages follow for the service area, and the review process is set up so it runs from the office software rather than from memory.

Local Services Ads and paid search

Plumbing is an emergency category, so the Local Services Ads listings sit at the top of the page for most of its searches. We manage the LSA account beside the SEO, handle the licensing and background checks the program requires, and dispute the leads that were never a plumbing job. For the planned work, Paid Advertising on the water heater and remodel terms fills the pipeline while the organic rankings build. Everything reports into one monthly review.

Seasons, service areas and the companies that grow

Plumbing has a calendar. Frozen pipes and water heater failures in January, sump pumps and basement flooding with the spring rain, outdoor spigots and irrigation in May, sewer backups after the fall storms. The content and the ad budgets move with it, and the pages for each season are published before the searches start rather than after.

Growth for a plumbing company usually means more towns, and the SEO follows the same logic. A second location, even a small office, gives the map pack a second center; without one, the town pages and the service-area settings on the profile do the work. The home services companies we work with in every trade follow the same pattern: own the home town first, then add the towns the trucks already drive to, one page at a time. SEO starts at $500 a month and there is no contract.

Other Services

A plumbing call is won in the map pack, so Local SEO and Google Business Profile SEO carry the work, with Reputation Management looking after the reviews that decide between two listings and Local Services Ads holding the top of the page for the emergency searches.
